The field practice in General geology is obligatory for all students and is carried out at the end of the first year of education. It aims to introduce the students in the geological field work, the main types of rocks and structures, as well as geological field techniques.
The field practice in Introduction of cartography is additional ant it is carried out along with the same discipline during the second term of first grade. The practical course usually includes two days of field work in the region of Vitosha Mountain and Iskar Gorge. During the practice the students learn how to use topographic base map, geological compass and GPS. They also apply their knowledge in General geology.
